DOJO Closed due to Coronavirus Lockdown

25 Mar 2020

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,

As you know, the Government lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic has forced all Sports clubs including Shinka Karate to close until further notice.

Direct Debits and Standing Orders

As a result of the shutdown, I have cancelled all direct debits to Shinka Karate.

If you are still paying by standing order—and I hope none of you are—please can you cancel these from with your bank as I cannot cancel these from my end.

IMPORTANT: If you have not settled this month's membership fee (MARCH), I would very much appreciate you contacting me to arrange this. I appreciate that we only had 3 out of the 4 weeks training but please check on Dojo Login to see what has been paid or is outstanding.

Club Survival

It is a stark reality that unfortunately without any income from the club, and with ongoing overheads, this has had an immediate and painful impact on me personally. Being self employed, I do not have any recourse for government support or income without the club. If you are happy and able to make any donation or contributions to support the club during this extraordinary period, I would be most grateful.

Moving forward

If you have not returned the contact form that was sent out at the beginning of February, you will not have received your Dojo membership login or instructions. PLEASE CONTACT CHIU VIA THE SHINKA FACEBOOK PAGE ( . Click on the Send Message button, or email

We will need your email address in order to send through the instructions and login details.

The Dojo membership system includes an app called Dojo Login 2 (Android or iOS) that you may wish to install on your smart phone or tablet. The app will be used for important notifications about classes, gradings, competitions, licence renewals, as well as view past and outstanding invoices. You will also be able to access your account via the Shinka Karate website (

The app is free to download.

I would hope that all students will keep up with their training, practising their kata and general fitness, whilst they are at home with nowhere to go during the lockdown.

On behalf of Shinka Karate, I have negotiated with the United Karate Association (UKA) who are part of Karate England to allow Shinka Karate students to access the UKA virtual training.

Please see the messageboard in the membership area (Dojo Login) for more information.

I hope that many of you will want to continue your training during this pandemic lockdown.

Finally, I would like to thank all everyone for your understanding and hope to see you all back in training as soon as this extraordinary event has ended.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions at all.

Best wishes,

Sensei Mark
